Dynatup Impulse Data Acquisition for Impact Testing Machines
Engineered product designs requiring extensive data to determine material behavior at the point of impact in a Charpy Impact test can be obtained using Instron Dynatup® Impulse™ software and hardware. This data is useful when evaluating the type of failure and the dynamic response of the material. Both Instron systems: SI Series Pendulum Impact Testers & MPX Motorized Pendulum Impact Testers can be configured for this PC-based data acquisition and analysis system.
As an option for new impact machine systems, the Dynatup Impulse system includes fully integrated electronics, hardware and the Impulse software package to provide high-speed data acquisition, analysis and enhanced reporting capabilities. The standard Charpy striker would be replaced with an instrumented striker. A 2-Channel Transducer Support Data Acquisition PC card provides for a simultaneous sampling rate of 4.1 MHz per channel. This card is acceptable for tests that are less than 4 ms.
Existing Instron® impact test systems can be retrofitted to add Impulse to increase productivity by creating test and measurement solutions through data acquisition, analysis and visualization.
Instron® introduces the MPX Series of motorized pendulum impact testers that are ideal for testing metals to Charpy and Izod standards. Available in capacities from 300 to 900 J the MPX is safe, quick, and easy to operate. Fracta™ Software comes standard with the MPX, allowing for simple data acquisition and calculation of energy. The system also allows for easy upgrading to Impulse™ data acquisition software that uses load and velocity transducers to provide data collection, analysis, and reporting results. The MPX System is CE Compliant.
